2026 CFAA Women in Fire Alarm Scholarship Award Recipient

On June 11th, 2026 at the CFAA AGM held in Montebello, Quebec, Catherine Aastrom presented the first ever recipient of the Women in Fire Alarm Scholarship to Natalia Wesolowsky
This year marked a milestone for the Canadian Fire Alarm Association with the launch of the Women in Fire Alarm Scholarship—the first award of its kind in the association's history. Created to support female students working toward becoming qualified fire alarm technicians, the scholarship reflects the CFAA's commitment to building a stronger, more diverse next generation in life safety.
For more than 40 years, the CFAA has educated and qualified thousands of fire alarm technicians across Canada. Yet women remain underrepresented in the fire alarm industry. The Women in Fire Alarm Scholarship was established to help change that—removing barriers, recognizing talent, and making it clear that the future of this industry includes more women in technical roles.
The Women in Fire Alarm Scholarship is presented to a female student who has achieved an overall grade of 80% or greater in all 5 requisite courses of the CFAA Fire Alarm Technician Program.
It truly is my privilege to announce that the first-ever recipient of the Women in Fire Alarm Scholarship is: Natalia Wesolowsky who completed our program with distinction from Fanshawe College.
