From the time I enrolled in the Fire Protection Engineering Technology program at Seneca College, I knew I wanted to build a career in fire protection, particularly on the prevention side. While I was certain about the field, the specific career path was not yet clear. That clarity came when I joined LRI Engineering (Leber Rubes Inc.). Once I began working as a consultant, I quickly realized that consulting was where I could make the greatest impact. It allowed me to combine technical knowledge with problem-solving and collaboration; an approach that ultimately shaped the direction of my career and leadership journey.
What has kept me in the industry is a genuine passion for the work. I’ve always valued the opportunity to contribute not only through my professional role, but also by volunteering within the fire protection community. Fire prevention is a critical component of public safety, and knowing that our work helps protect people, buildings, and communities makes the work incredibly rewarding.
Looking back, I wouldn’t change anything. Each experience: both through my professional work and my volunteer involvement in the industry has helped shape the direction of my career. Altering any one of those experiences may have led me down a different path. Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of working with, volunteering alongside, and learning from many individuals who are subject matter experts in their fields. I value the discussions, mentorship, camaraderie, and relationships that developed through those experiences, as they have all played an important role in my growth and success.
"Fire and Life Safety inspections may happen behind the scenes, but they play a vital role in making sure the systems people depend on in an emergency are ready when it matters most"
I was drawn to the fire and life safety industry because the work truly matters, makes a difference, and inspections allow me to help ensure that the systems designed to protect people are maintained and ready.

When I started in fire alarm sales in 2013, I rarely saw another woman in the room. I had just transitioned from electrical sales, and I quickly discovered a passion for the life safety industry. I got involved with the CFAA soon after, and in 2019 I was elected the first female chapter president in the association's 46-year history. After managing a fire alarm service company in Winnipeg until 2024, I joined Mircom as Business Development Manager for Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta. In March 2025, I stepped into my current role as Director of Education and Regulatory Services for the CFAA, where this year we launched the association's first "Women in Fire Alarm" scholarship, supporting female students on their path to becoming fire alarm technicians. What keeps me here is a passion for life safety—and a commitment to making sure the next generation of women in this industry sees plenty of others in the room.

I’ve been working in the fire protection industry since 2011, gaining experience across multiple disciplines including fire alarm and sprinkler systems. Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to work in various regions across Canada, with the majority of my experience based in Ottawa. This industry is fast-paced, challenging, and incredibly rewarding—one of the aspects I value most is the strong sense of community and collaboration within it. Since relocating to Winnipeg, I’ve been fortunate to connect with a supportive and knowledgeable network of professionals. I’m passionate about continuous growth, both personally and professionally, and strive to contribute positively to the industry by supporting others and maintaining high standards in my work. I look forward to continuing to learn, evolve, and build a long-term career in fire protection.
I thrive on delivering large, complex fire protection designs and leveraging BIM to develop coordinated, code compliant systems. I utilize my 10 years of experience and technical resources to produce high quality deliverables that improve occupant life safety, support effective fire response, and strengthen overall building performance in emergency conditions. k
